I lived through a nightmare every time I had to take off my clothes. The problem with atopic skin caused that I thought about cosmetology already as a young girl. Such skin reacts very strongly to all external factors, it is dry, flakes off and sometimes breaks, scattering white flakes all around. The only way to live a normal life, in this situation, is using the right cosmetics. Doctors prepared special ointments for me, because all the others irritated the skin and only made it worse.
What comes next?
Unfortunately, after some time, it turns out that parents cannot invest in it anymore. As you can probably guess, custom made ointments are not the cheapest and that was the main reason.
So, as a young girl, I become interested in cosmetics – their composition and the process of their creation. It’s the only way out to help myself. With time, I discover that it begins to fascinate me. With childish curiosity I absorb more books and articles about cosmetics. I gain so much knowledge in this field that, after some time, I become an advisor for other people struggling with various types of skin ailments.
At the age of 17, I get into a company selling cosmetics. This is my first step towards a paid job and an the occasion to find myself in an industry which, despite my young age, I manage to get to know. On one hand, I am accompanied by fear and uncertainty, but on the other, by a great, neverending curiosity. This is a chance for completely new possibilities and independence.
In 1997, at the age of 18, I have my first child. I give up my studies because of it and, within one day, people around simply begin to consider me as lost to the world. In these times, a lonely 18-year-old with a child? Not a chance for any future at all! I experience a momentary breakdown. After all, I have barely turned 18, how is it possible that the fate treats me like that!? At the same time I have a deep feeling that, against all odds, I must be strong. After all I have a child that I love so much. I don’t want my baby to someday experience this horrible fear and feeling of helplessness that I do. I have to take action to guarantee my son a wonderful childhood.
Once again, I decide to prove to myself and the whole world that they are wrong in their judgments and that I can manage.
Because I do not have a chance to find a full-time job, I decide to start my own business. At the age of 19, excited, with a one-year-old on my hands, I go to the tax office to arrange the necessary formalities. During registration, the lady in the window immediately throws:
I go back to the corridor, first I just want to escape from this building and run ahead. Emotions are raging in my head, fear mixed with excitement. In the end, I calm down a bit and close my eyes for a moment. In my mind I ask myself: „Where do I want to be now?”
After a while, I move into a warm and very pleasant place. I am on the beach with palm trees, where the blue ocean stretches out to the horizon, and gentle waves reflect on the shore. I feel the rays of the sun falling on my face, I gradually run away and it makes me really blissful.
I shout the name of the company out. People in the corridor look at me as they wait for their turn.
I go back to the office and say: „LAGUNA. My company will be called Laguna.”
It must have been a good name! At the age of 20, I became the CEO of a cosmetics company.
Over time, I manage a team which counts 1,200 people. I! The one who, until recently, had been sentenced to failure by everyone. I cannot describe the huge pride that filled my whole body. I wanted to say to all these doubters: „Well, I told you so, didn’t I?”
It is a time when I know almost everything about cosmetics. I do not stop at this and constantly try to learn something new and improve my qualifications. I know that only this way I can become someone really special in the cosmetics industry and achieve real success.
At the age of 22, I leave to the US. For me, this is a place of great opportunities where I can learn from the best in the industry. Sitting on the plane, I wonder if my expectations are too high. Maybe this trip will not change much, and I will be dissapointed once again?
The great inspiration and mentor for whom I go to the US is Teresa Drake. A Polish woman who made her career in the United States. A woman of success in times when Poles were very limited in the field of art. I work hard for half a year to be able to afford to be trained by her. I am aware of how crucial this moment is for my life.
The training really opes my mind and makes me swarm with new ideas and inspiration. At every class with this woman, I feel like in a trance. Energy, passion, motivation – these feelings accompany me throughout the entire training. After my return back home, due to my mentor’s recommendation, I go to the make up and stylization school in Łódź. And nevermind the distance! I travel to Łódź from Cracow to get my dream qualifications. In my head I have a clearly defined goal that I want to achieve. I do not let myself think that something can go wrong.
Do you have such a goal in your life? Something to you stubbornly strive for, regardless all difficulties? If so, then you know that circumstances do not matter, because you do everything to get what you are after.
At the age of 26, I fall in love for the second time and I leave with my partner to England. This is going to be the crucial moment of my life. I only buy a one-way ticket. I am very emotional about the trip, I cry and feel a lot of bitterness when I realize that I am going to leave everything, all my achievements and history in Poland. However, the door handle is gone, there is no turning back. I start a new life!
Finally, we can enjoy our happiness together. The initial terror begins to pass, I slowly accept the longing for family and friends.
Unfortunately, after 2 weeks of arrival, I fall into deep depression. The man who was to change my life, the one I loved so much and for whom I left my old life, at every step convinces me that my strengths are really my weakness and turns out to be someone completely different than I believed him to be.
He also wants me to send my child back to Poland. For me this is unthinkable, because my son is the most important person for me in the entire world. In the next few days I decide to end this toxic relationship.
I end up alone again. In a foreign country, without work, family and friends. However, I feel relief and freedom, comparable to being released from a cage.
It is time for a very strong qualification test. I have to find a job, thanks to which I will not only provide for myself, but also for my child. I get hired in a perfumery, where I sell different types of cosmetics. After 3 months I already have regular customers and the best turnover, which gives me financial security. Most girls would be delighted, but I do not enjoy it.
Work becomes an my escape from problems. Can you imagine? I work 16 hours a day for the next 4 years and I have practically no private life. What’s more, I even make make-up after hours just to have something to do. Whenever I have a spare moment, black thoughts appear again. I cannot cope mentally with what happened long time ago.
One morning I get up and say: STOP! It’s been too much and priorities have changed.
I am extremely frustrated to finally admit that I can no longer work for someone else. I work myself to death, but it does not fulfill my personal ambitions.
From now on, I decide to act completely differently. In my own way. However, on the very start there is a big problem: no one here knows me and I do not have much respect in the industry.
In the meantime, I change my place of residence to the current one and I am pregnant again. In the end I become left alone with two children and not very interesting prospects for the future.
Despite this dramatic situation, I open my own home office and for the next 6 years I work almost non-stop. I wake up and realize that something isn’t right during my holidays… when my child is 4 years old …
Nevertheless, I do not slow down for a moment, I constantly improve my qualifications and learn new things. I know that this is the key to becoming the best at what I do, to earn my respect in the industry and simply to fulfill my dreams.
I get a cosmetology license, and finally I can perform advanced treatments which effectiveness that definitely goes beyond my wildest expectations. Inside, I feel joy and satisfaction that I have done well and that I am self-sufficient.
Soon after, I find people in the UK who have a strong and specific attitude, like me. I get to know the love of my life … after all, common passion and goals bring people together … and finally I am happy! After some time, together with my support team, we decide to open our own clinic – Pure Harmony Clinic.
